Paying a real living wage boosts staff productivity and motivation at work and helps us remain competitive, retaining existing staff and attracting new staff. Over half of employers said paying a real living wage has improved the quality of applications for jobs.
On 1st April 2025, the living wage (and National Insurance) will increase to £12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over. While any increase in wages is welcome, it is important to understand how this differs from the real living wage, which is set by the Living Wage Foundation based on the cost of living.
